WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT TO DELIVER THE 'Hi JEAN' PROJECT DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS. 

Black Prince Trust, Brixton Peoples Kitchen and Street Soccer London are delighted to announce the launch of
‘Hi Jean’, an important new initiative being run out of the BPT Community Hub, Kennington.

Despite the fantastic efforts being made in North Lambeth to provide vulnerable and low-income families with essential food during the COVID-19 crisis in support of the ‘stay at home’ strategy, there is one area that has been overlooked. Free Feminine Hygiene Products (FHPs) are typically provided to young adults at schools, community centres and youth clubs, however the onset of the COVID-19 crisis has stopped these usual outlets of what is a critical community service.

As such the Black Prince Trust, Brixton Peoples Kitchen and Street Soccer London have teamed up to offer this provision by a new initiative called ’Hi Jean’. Black Prince Trust and Brixton Peoples Kitchen are already in partnership hosting and managing the care food package distribution centre on behalf of Lambeth Council, at the BPT Community Hub in Kennington. As such, in an extension to this service, local members of the community will able to access FHPs including sanitary towels and tampons via the Brixton Peoples Kitchen outlet at the BPT Community Hub. Street Soccer London, an existing BPT community partner, has joined the initiative as a co-funder and partner.

With a small pot of funds, it is our intention to have Hi Jean operational by 24th April 2020 and keep this service running on a daily basis throughout the COVID-19 crisis. If successful, and funding permitting, we will look to expand this into other key community areas across Lambeth and potentially neighbouring Boroughs over the summer.
